Orientation and Mobility (O&M) is a profession that teaches people with visual impairments and those who are blind to travel throughout familiar and unfamiliar environments with purpose, safety, and independence according to the individual's goals and abilities utilizing the white cane or other mobility aids. ​​ Orientation and Mobility (O&M) is taught by an Orientation and Mobility Specialist.
Orientation is a person’s understanding and awareness of their environment, including their position within it, the location of people and objects, and the relationships between them.
Mobility is the physical act of moving through the environment in a safe, efficient, and purposeful manner.

Our services for children are contracted by school districts as a vital component of the Expanded Core Curriculum, which is federally mandated by IDEA for students with visual impairments. Lessons are primarily delivered during school hours or in accordance with the district's requirements.

This is why our individualized lessons are taught at the client’s home, local grocery store, church, bank, and place of employment, etc.
